Would I Cross a Crowded Room. . .

All Say "Moo"
Would I Cross a Crowded Room. . .
I have a little rubric, a mantra you might say, that I use perhaps a dozen or more times in the course of a painting. It's a simple question I ask myself every few minutes as I step away from the easel, maybe 15 feet or so, and say to myself: "Would I cross a crowded room to look at this painting more closely?" It's become a joke around my house, but it works for me!
First, I want to thank you for your kind comments and purchases of my art. This past year, 2017, was a very good year for my art; some 30 paintings found a home. After some reflection, I am going to try something different on my web site this year. To begin, the prices for my paintings--not the value, mind you but the cost--will be lowered at certain times to offer great gift opportunities. The first will be a Mother's Day gift opportunity. So I hope you will keep an eye open for that "sale" (a dirty word in art circles), which will be in April and early May.
Secondly, I plan to focus on certain themes in my paintings this year. I will put together a collection of paintings based on my hiking trips in our national parks-Glacier, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Zion, Rocky Mountain, etc. This will be the bulk of the web site paintings for a short period of time. Another theme will be flowers, and the web site will bloom for a couple months or so! I also plan this year to put together a collection of paintings on local area scenes like Cone Manor, Grandfather Mountain, Parkway views, etc.
Another intention I have is to annotate my paintings, telling more about the story behind each painting.
All that to say, "Thank You," for purchasing my paintings, and as i continue to ask the question, "Would I cross a crowded room to look at this painting more closely?" I hope you will do the same and peruse my web site even more often. And don't forget to invite your friends to check out my paintings and sign up for my art newsletter.
Oh, by the way, since at present about a third of my web site paintings are sold, if you see something you really like, contact me about painting a version of it for you. earldavisfineart.com
Stay warm and think spring!
