Painter of the Blue Ridge
Earl's paintings are mostly landscapes. His paintings often seek the playfulness of sunlight as he features scenes from hiking in national parks, roaming the trails of the Blue Ridge in North Carolina, and fishing the magic streams of the High Country. Educated in liberal arts at Stetson University and theology in two seminaries, Earl has served as a pastor for decades in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee at First Baptist Churches of Marianna FL, Dalton GA, and Memphis TN, as well as being the founding pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Cordova TN. He holds a Ph.D. in theology, and has taught at colleges and seminaries. He is a self-taught painter, and among his mentors are Richard Schmid,, Mark Boedges, Christine Lashley, Albert Handell and other artists.
Earl’s art includes interpreting scenes in national parks and historic settings throughout America, as well as painting beloved Blue Ridge scenes. Blowing Rock isn’t called the jewel of the Blue Ridge by accident! He is often found plein air painting at Blowing Rock’s Bass Lake.
